Response to previous thread

As of midnight Sunday the messenger thread had more replies and over twice as many views as any other recent thread. Does that mean that in reality this is more of a place to socialize than to study and learn about the serious business of the job we do? What are we, a bunch of nice, normal human beings? Bang goes another of the public's illusions.

pardon me, but how do we get better at officiating and better as officials? we talk about plays, discuss unusual situations and debate what the best outcome would be. so in essence yes we do socialize.

I started that thread in July 31st. Yeah, it's gotten 3 pages of replies in 4 months. Is that a problem? I replied to it agin, to bring it back to the top of the board, since another such thread had been started.

Not a problem at all. I hadn't seen the thread before so I thought it was new and that it had produced an incredible response. I was trying to comment on the comradeship of officials as a group. I was also trying to at the same time be somewhat clever. Bang goes another personal illusion.
