				Prosthetic limbs

I saw someone with a prosthetic leg running on a treadmill today, and that got me thinking. Has anyone ever worked with someone, or does anyone here, work games with a prosthetic leg? |

I have two prosthetic eyes, but other than that I haven't seen a thing!

Partner = no. Player = yes. Had a prosthetic leg. He was ~ 11, so he was still competitive at that level.

Yo Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Rum ...

Middle school player with a prosthetic leg. Had trouble speeding up, and slowing down, but other than that, he played like anyone else on the court. He was a starter.

I have no doubt that if someone in that position has worked really hard, that he could do a better job than many of the intersection jockeys we see posing as a trail official. Haven't worked with any who have, but my hat is off to them.

Had a girl in 7th grade or so that played for one year for a very small school.Never even noticed it for a period or so. She did not play the following year. You've got to give someone like her a LOT of credit.

				Middle school girl

Middle school girl about 4 seasons ago played with no left hand. Was missing right at the wrist. She was the teams best player. She would even dribble with her stump! Honestly, i didn't notice it at first cause she played really good, i only noticed it after a couple games. She was REALLY good!

I read an article similar to this in Referee Magazine. IIRC it was her leg & she's still working high level ball.

I saw the women mentioned in the Referee article working Blue Chip camp at Penn State last summer. She was wearing shorts or you would not have even known she had a prosthetic leg. She got up and down the court just fine. Manhattan College(D1, MAAC) has a player with one arm. |
