Coach sends self to hospital

GV District tournament, coach get 2 techs and ejected. He leaves the gym and slugs a brick wall then bangs the same wall with his head. There is blood everywhere and they haul him off in an ambulance.

It takes all kinds to make up this world.

APG Sun Feb 20, 2011 01:02am

Man you couldn't make that up.

Karma's definitely a bi**h.

ThatOneRef Sun Feb 20, 2011 06:02am

Wow

Nice! Did they call in an ambulance? Or was it just surface wounds? And how'd he get 2 t's?

Jurassic Referee Sun Feb 20, 2011 06:41am

I just hope the brick wall was OK.

Maybe he'll receive a "Get Well" card from Gus Frerotte?!

What a blockhead.

Mark Padgett Sun Feb 20, 2011 12:13pm

He's a coach, so since he hit his head, he can't be seriously hurt.

I think a plaque commemorating that moment of brilliance should be placed at that spot on the wall.

Have somebody read the thread to you.

"There is blood everywhere and they haul him off in an ambulance."

That means that an ambulance was called.

mcdanrd Sun Feb 20, 2011 01:56pm

Yes, an ambulance was called. The first "T" followed a player control foul. The coach flopped to the floor to show what really happened. The second "T" was given by partner (2-person crew) when the coach wouldn't settle down. The coach had to be escorted off the court.

Terrapins Fan Sun Feb 20, 2011 02:05pm

I am speechless.........;)

buckrog64 Sun Feb 20, 2011 03:27pm

'The coach is hurt! Someone call me an ambulance!"

'You're an ambulance!"

Rich Sun Feb 20, 2011 03:32pm

Sounds like he really needed a wahhhhh-mbulance.

A coach flopping on the floor to demonstrate might get the hook from me right away, BTW.

The closest I ever saw a coach come to doing something like this was about five years ago in a local kids rec league game. It was 5th grade boys and I was training some HS kids to ref. Just a few minutes after we started the second half, the coach's son missed three consecutive open layups. The coach was sitting down on the metal bench and slammed his hand down on it.

He screamed and raised his arm. You could tell just by looking at his hand hanging there that he had done something really bad to it. He kept screaming so we stopped the game. His hand was swelling up and turning blue! He left immediately to go to the emergency room and his AC took over. The following week I learned the HC had fractured his wrist and broken some of his fingers including his thumb.

Talk about really being "into" the game!
