I do not think it is so much about egos. Almost all the NCAA Women's Rule's committee people or the Officials that know them are all WNBA Officials. Of course the WNBA is affiliated with the NBA, so they have adopted all the NBA mechanics and a few rules. So after an NCAA Women's season, you see the same officials working the WNBA Regular Season. Obviously not the case with the NCAA Men's side, they could not do that if they wanted to. Just look at the new Women's Mechanic after a foul. Calling official goes table side, just like the NBA. ;)

Jeff, On the women's side, you're obviously right, it's not about egos. I thought I made that same point in my last post. They have intentionally adopted the pro mechanics and interpretations.

My main point was that it was the egos of the Men's committee members that prevent the men's and women's mechanics from being similar. Dan asked why the men and women can't have the same mechanic for the team control foul. My answer was that it's possible that the egos of the men's committee members prevents it.

I do not think egos plays a part with the Men's Committee. The Men's Committee is not easily allined with the NBA the way the Women's Committee is. They both have different, direct influences. But again this is all opinion. It really does not matter what either of us think about it, it is the way it is. Egos or no egos. :)

After meeting quite a few of the "top" NCAA Women's officials at camps, and some of the NCAA muckety-mucks at a tournament last season, I think we need to be VERY, VERY careful when we start talking about egos - trust me, they are present on both sides of the coin!!

Jeff may be right and rocky definitely is. I was only relating the opinion of someone who I think would have some insight on the subject. I have no idea of the egos involved on the men's rules committee. Never met 'em, and probably never will. I was just the messenger.
