The official rules personal foul. Count basket and give team A ball. I know that if contact is made it can be ruled personal, intentional or flagrant...but the basket is counted. So in the end, if contact is not made, cancel basket, if contact is made count basket.....SAY WHAT ??
In either scenario if the shot is in the air the try is counted if successful and penalties are issued accordingly.
That said if the shot has not been released and there is a foul or violation by the offense that act kills the ball-result no shot and penalties are issued. I don't understand the "unfairness".
