There was a little discussion in another post about rules being "fair". This one really gets me. A1's try is in the air when A2 swing arms/elbows excessively. No basket and B's ball for throw-in because of violation by A2. They go to the other end of court and B1 makes a try and B2 "contacts" A1 excessively with arms/elbows. The official rules personal foul. Count basket and give team A ball. I know that if contact is made it can be ruled personal, intentional or flagrant...but the basket is counted. So in the end, if contact is not made, cancel basket, if contact is made count basket.....SAY WHAT ??

In either scenario if the shot is in the air the try is counted if successful and penalties are issued accordingly.
That said if the shot has not been released and there is a foul or violation by the offense that act kills the ball-result no shot and penalties are issued. I don't understand the "unfairness".

Hehehehe

Rules are not written to be "fair" . . .

They are written to be "equitable".

Fairness and rules should never be confused.

Try this Davism: "Coach, that's the rule. You want fair - call Judge Judy."

Forgive me but you're gonna call that?

Don't call it and there's no problem. I've never seen a player excessively swing the elbows without making contact, unless he had the ball. If he makes contact, it's a foul and the basket counts. No contact, I've got nothing.

I'm sure you'll go deep into the playoffs, good luck!

Did you hear what happened on Long Island NY last week?
Coach & team came out onto the field after a call &
chased an official, they got a 1 game suspension which put
them out of the tourney. Idiots.

This past Thursday night, we flagged a player for nailing an offensive linemen when the QB took a knee with under a minute to go. An asst. coach went nuts, cursed, and had to be escorted from the field. Naturally, I threw gold at his feet, as did the referee. He was suspended for Friday's varsity game and may be suspended for his first round playoff game next Friday, which he'll probably lose anyway. Cya next year, coach!

A lot of things seem to build during the season and seem to explode during the last couple of weeks of football season. It's ridiculous.
