Boys Varsity ball. 7th and 8th grade.
Team B scores a basket
A1 takes the ball out of bounds. While looking for an open man, steps over the line, realizes it and steps back out of bounds and throws the ball in to A2.

Legal?

I'm confused. Around here the terms Varsity and Junior Varsity apply only to HS teams. How do you have a 7th/8th grade varsity team?

The play you describe is a violation as soon as the inbounder touches the court inbounds.

Chuck

Chuck is absolutely correct. Once the player crosses over the line it is a violation. He is not able to "undo" this action by returning to the out-of-bounds side of the line.

Thanks for reply. We have 4th, 5th and 6th grade (JV) and the 7th, 8th grade (Varsity). High school may use the same names ... We still have a few years before we find out.
