Traveling

The little skip (about an inch - both feet -similar to a jump stop) many use to set for a three point shot - I've got traveling - correct?

Called it in men's league last night. It has even a bigger impact when a player uses that move to move from 2- to 3-point land. Essentially the same shooting percentage, but now worth an extra point. Of course you call it.

Two feet to two feet is a travel, no matter how it's sliced.

This move went through the local men's league like wildfire about 3-4 years ago. We put a stop to it, pdq. We also had what I call the "tag", about 5 years ago, which we had to stop. Defenders were tagging the shooter in the belly as the player shot.

I called that in a high school game the other night. The player didn't like it but the coach "yelled" at him "I told you that you have to plant" so obviously the coach agreed with the call (as much as a coach will agree with a call that goes against him)

Yes, it's a travel, but a lot of times players are using the jump stop to get planted now, too. Had a game a few years ago where I had a travel on one end, and a legal jump stop on the other end. Coach didn't care for it too much, but oh well.
