1) After a made basket in the last minute of the second half or any overtime period, the clock stops. Despite the fact that the ball is dead and the clock is stopped, no subs are allowed in this situation. However, what if there is something else that delays the resumption of play? For example, the official is called to the table for a question, or the ball bounces into the stands and has to be retrieved. If there is a delay in making the ball alive, can we allow a sub to enter? I don't think so, but I can't find anything that discusses it in the rulebook.

2) If free throws are shot in the wrong order, what can be done about it? B1 fouls A1 and A is in the bonus. B1 curses and is assessed a T. Officials screw up and administer the 1-and-1 first (the order in which they occurred). Then administer the T.

On my test, A1 made both FTs of the 1-and-1. So my answer is that you give the ball to B anywhere along the endline for the throw-in. Treat the situation as if you'd handled it correctly and just resume at (what should have been) the POI. I think that's right, b/c what else can you do? You could cancel the FTs for the 1-and-1 and make A1 shoot them again AFTER the technical FTs. But that seems dumb, since you know who SHOULD get the ball now.

But suppose A1 had missed the second shot of the 1-and-1 and then you shot the technical FTs. What a mess! What should we do in that situation? Besides preparing for the inevitable pulling of our schedule?

I don't have my new rule book yet (meeting is this weekend), but I can try...

#1: As I understand it, the rule change this year does not allow subs for a timer mistake or an inadvertent whistle...so if the timer doesn't stop the clock and we have to blow the whistle to kill the clock - they can't come in...that's rule 5-9.10...as far as table questions or ball going into stands, I don't know of any rule that would not allow us to bring them in during that sort of delay...

#2: I agree with your answer in the case on A making both ends of their 1-and1...if they miss, then it's back to the correctable error stuff and re-shoot everything in the correct order...and hope there is lots of security around to escort us off the court...and then go to a bar and knock down a few in honor of all the games we will be losing when the supervisor call the next morning!!

I don't think this is a correctable error. The merited FTs were shot by the correct people at the correct ends of the floor. Only the order was wrong. I don't think order is a correctable error.

I suggest that it will be an AP throw-in. Since it should have been resumed from the point of interruption after the T...the 1+1. However, since it was already shot and there was a miss, you can't tell who should have possession since no rebound was allowed.

New NCAA rule 3.4.6 spells out timer mistake or inadvertant whistle.
