Lithotripsy: the use of high-energy shock waves to fragment and disintegrate kidney stones. The shock wave, created by using a high-voltage spark or an electromagnetic impulse outside of the body, is focused on the stone. The shock wave shatters the stone, allowing the fragments to pass through the urinary system.

It worked. I recommend it. A couple of the "fragments" which did indeed pass on through the system were still 3-4 mm. Not the most pleasant thing, but infinitely preferable to the alternative.

When that stone is lodged in the tube in the kidney, one would sometimes welcome a hit with a sledgehammer.................in the head.

I have a brother who's a doctor. He said the two worst measured pains recognized are labor pains and kidney stone pains.

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I can't speak about labor pains, but when I had my most recent kidney stone attack, I was screaming for morphine as soon as I got into the emergency room. I made my brother-in-law run every red light as he drove me to the hospital.

I had a couple episodes. The first:p one my wife is rushing me to the ER in the middle of the night and of course she gets pulled over by the police. The cop took one look at me and told my wife to hurry up and go. I must have looked like I was in as much pain as I was. Not fun

Worst pain I've ever had was the gall bladder attack.

What have I learned...

That I need to quit using my hands and/or making jestures when speaking to officials, coaches, and players.

It's funny, because in my normal everyday conversations I rarely use my hands when talking.

Sometimes they get up 4 or 5...usually when the ball is being tapped during rebounding action.
