Western MA has held steady roughly around 115-135 officials over the last 10 years or so.

Fort Worth chapter has increased (as of the last meeting) by 42 members. Haven't heard complaints about schedule decreases so the "shortage" must have been real.

We have an unusually large increase in the number of new officials this year.

I expect with the economy down and unemployment higher that in several years we will see in increase in officials. There will some people that do it just to have some income when there are no jobs to be found.

The word in my area is. If you don't get people to come to the new officials classes, then you will need to study one man officiating because there won't be enough officials to cover all the games with two man much less three man.

Lightbulb Cannot explain why...........

but it seems like the numbers are down in sports like Football and Baseball, but the numbers are up or the same in Basketball. People just do not seem to stop doing basketball at the rate of the other sports. Maybe because you can make more money or guaranteed money during the basketball season. Who knows?

Peace
