First half. V5 missed a shot and lost her shoe in front of her basket.
H rebounded the ball and is headed to the other end. V5 picked up her shoe, but decided she can't play without it; so she stopped (still in her lane right in front of the basket) and put her shoe back on while H as missing a couple of shots. V3 rebounded and breaks fast toward V5, who is standing in the lane (both shoes on) with her hands up. V3 makes a longish pass from her backcourt; V5 gets the pass and scores. From V5 miss to V5 score was about 20 seconds. V5 spent the entire time 2 feet (and two shoes) in front of her basket. H coach and both assistants want to know, "What about three Seconds? She was in there forever!!!" |

3 second count was discontinued when H gained possession of the ball. When the ball went down to the other end and V regained possession, the 3 second count does not begin till V gets the ball into the front court.

Mick,
I know you were not asking for a ruling, it is just amazing the misconceptions that coaches have on the rules. I had to laugh at this one - you'd think they would at least know there is no count when the other team has the ball! |
