Well, it may be on the test, but it isn't a question. The test questions usually say "Official rules such-and-such. Is the official correct?" But there's no ruling in this situation. Either it's a serious misprint, or Jeff has gotten into Padgett's meds :D

Sounds like a True statement to me.
We can't advance a ball by requesting a time-out.

The ruling is where the throw-in is to occur after the timeout where a player near the endline requests timeout while the ball is in the possession of a teammate who is at the division line.

This is a TRUE statement.

It took me a second read...but it's not that tough.


Of course, it should be worded:

I thought Rut's "WHAT??!!!!!!!" was because the test writer implies that A1 can <i>call</i> a timeout! :D

I think Rut is just aging.
He's having to much fun and hasn't decided to slow down yet.
I think I was around his age (32-ish) when I decided the going-up wasn't worth the coming-down.
Now I just stay up, or down.

Is possible to get a copy of the practice test you are working on? Our season does not start until
Dec. Our IAABO board will not distribute books or refresher exams until Nov 3rd.

You are not far off mick. ;) I just turned 30 on the 22nd. I was having Football Part 2 flashbacks, with questions that did not seem to be complete. My state threw out 6 Part 2 Football questions that were written about a good as this one.

We had similar problems in volleyball -- several questions that were worded so poorly that we were simply given the answers.

That is the problem with the NF tests. IMO, all they really test is one's ability to take their tests. Trying to decipher what they are asking can be nearly impossible.

There has to be a better way to determine an official's rule knowledge.

I completely agree with you. These test do not really test anything other than you ability to read between the lines. They leave out words like "intentionally" or "accidentally" and make you know the exact wording of the rule to test your knowledge of the rule. Especially when the casebook and rulebooks contradict themselves at times.
