This Just In...

Knight is to critiquing officials as Stevie Wonder is to driving in NASCAR.

He's been going at it strong since the 12 minute mark of the 1st half

I also thought it was hilarious when he was saying what officials should first look for when a player gets the ball on the perimeter. I got a good laugh out of that one.

Peace

What did he say they should look for?

I will say (and it pains me to say this haha) that Knight and his partner were correct in stating there should of been an intentional foul late in the first half whenever a Texas player grabbed the back of a Baylor player's jersey that would of resulted in a break away lay-up.

He said the first thing an official should look at was the ball handler's feet. He did not qualify that based on any other factors which a real official would also be looking for. Traveling might be the last thing we are deciding in some cases. We might be looking to see if there is a foul or if the player has control of the ball which is needed first before you call a travel. But there are those that will listen to this and assume he is right on. I mean he is right on some level, but he made is sound like that is all we are doing which is the furthest thing from the truth.

Peace

Let me tell you a little story about a blind squirrel (insert chuck jokes here).... He was really hungry and he foraged and foraged.... days went by, weeks went by and a last he stumbled over a nut and he ate it and was sated. The End.

Yes, Knight knows all things basketball, but seriously, I have watched thousands of games over the last 20 years and this was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen.

The grabbing the jersey foul that was not intentional even though a blind man could tell it was intentional was bad enough, but if you watch the replay you see one official start to raise the intentional foul signal, but suddenly decided (for whatever reason) to change his mind.

However, even that wasn't as bad as the other not-called intentional foul earlier in the game where a defensive player was badly beat on a long pass and took both hands and shoved the airborne offensive player in the back with no attempt on the ball directly in front of the official. If ever there was a "textbook" intentional foul, that was it.

This crew made NBA officials look good.

While I do agree with your two assessments above, if that was one of the worse officiated games you've ever seen, then all I have to say is wow!

Heh.

Personally, I thought the LSU-Tennessee game was horribly officiated yesterday. Of course, it was also very poorly played.

If it involved:

1) Pacing and stomping,
2) Yelling and cussing,
3) Arguing with refs,
4) Grabbing players,
5) Tossing chairs, or
6) Embarassing himself in any number of ways.
7) All of the above plus, much, much more

I imagine pretty good!
