This coming Friday night is the final night for our local kids rec league this season and it's our season ending "tournament" for our HS level kids. It's really just a "round robin" since every team plays the same number of games.
In one of the games, we have a coach who will be in his final game with us. His only kid is a HS senior. Early in the season, he received a technical in one game from me, and another in another game from our assignor. Three weeks ago, he was tossed by a veteran official and served a two game suspension. This is his first game back from that and his last overall. We expect he will act in a typical manner and show no restraint if he doesn't like the way the game is going. Guess who will be working his game? Me and the assignor. We've discussed this and, while we're not going to "bait" him or go looking for trouble, we agree he will have a "short leash". This is an organization that places sportsmanship up on a high pedestal. I've been practicing my "YOU'RE OUTTA HERE" mechanic - not that I really need any practice. I think I'll be a nice guy and bring a lawn chair to put in the parking lot so he'll have some place to sit for most of the game. ![]()
