OK. This has been going on for over twenty-one hours. When is enough, enough? Not enough yet? I agree. I'll just leave it up to the moderators. Eventually the post will be closed, certainly with justification, after all, this thread has really moved away from the basketball arena. What's the line we have to cross?

How about another one?

"We got two honkies out there dressed like Hasidic diamond merchants."

And I thought Airplane! had the best quotes? Boy was I wrong.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

I think you're the greatest, but my Dad says you don't work hard enough on defense.

He says you don't even try, except in the playoffs.

That official in the OP shoulda tried harder. He didn't even show up on time.

My guess is that the 2 officials who WERE there on time felt comfortable enough to proceed with the 2 they had. Big difference from 1 of 2 showing up late. They probably hashed things out after the game because they were likely focused on the game itself. The 3rd guy either had a legitimate excuse or he didn't. And the assignor will make that determination in future considerations for playoff assignments.

Without a doubt the two guys were comfortable without him. My thought was that "better late than never" does not apply in a case like this. Apparently he had been in contact. The referee said that the third guy was late but that he was coming. If I'm on either side of this I would suggest that the game just be left in the hands of two. Others may disagree.

Apparently there were at least 2 who disagreed.

At least one, anyway. "Don't worry, guys. I'll be there."

I'd say there were three who disagreed, but it may have come to a vote. Frankly, if it was me, and the guy had a good reason, I'd have no problem letting him join midway. If he didn't have a good reason, I'd work it with two.

Whether he had a good reason or not, I wouldn't attempt to tell him he couldn't call, no matter how late he arrived. But if I talked to him and he estimated he would arrive a half hour after tipoff and asked my opinion, I would tell him not to bother.

I believe that we have now crossed the line, moving from off topic comments on one movie, to off topic comments on another movie. OK moderators, go ahead and close it down as soon as just another ref and Snaqwells finish making their pertinent on topic comments.

Snaqwells and I often make pertinent comments for days on end....weeks even.

OK moderators. It's enough. Shut it down, now. Please.

Surely you can't be serious.
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

I'm out of control. I can't stop. Help. Put me out of my misery.

When I start quoting Hannah Montana, it'll be time to close my account. Until then, you're a member of this crew. Can you face some unpleasant facts?
