TV Announcement

I just wanted everyone to know that I will be officiating a basketball game on TV tomorrow afternoon/evening on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. I am working a game in the City-Suburban (McDonald's I believe) Shootout at the University of Illinois-Chicago Campus at 4:30. I have the first of 3 games. I am not sure how national these games will be shown, but if you have Direct TV or some feed through Comcast stations you might be able to see it. I know many of those in Illinois can see it and probably other parts of the Midwest.

Just thought you guys should know.

Probably will not get it here in Indy. Good luck! How many TV timeouts will you have? If so, how exactly do you handle them and how many timeouts will both teams start with?

That is a good question, I am not sure and I have not been informed yet.

Peace

Nice assignment! What teams do you have? All competive matchups from what I read. Wish I could go, but working myself. Good luck!

Who assigns these? (initials if you like)

Even if you have an old black and white TV with analog signal if you cannot figure me out, then you need a new TV. ;)

Peace

To me, a game like this, in Chicago, on a big stage, big crowd is equal to doing a State final. State assignment as we all know can be very political and while well deserved, includes other factors. Assignments like this are given to officials that can handle the game.

Hmm...I'm actually going to be up in the area doing a game earlier that afternoon, so maybe I'll stop by and view the "live" version, rather than listening to the well-informed announcers.

You should recognize me if you look in the stands - I'll be in one of the suites:

If you need help with a call, just look up and let me know. :D

Congratulations. Be sure to review any state procedures for media timeouts. Also, be prepared for very, very, bright lights. The bright lights really threw me the first time I had such a game.
