T or no T?

I went to watch a VB game the other night and sat by another official.

The game went well no disparaging nor slanderous acts, words or gestures (from what I could tell from the stands) by either team. Middle of the third quarter, Visiting team has a fast break opportunity that V1 gets fouled, whistle blows, the ball bounces back to V2, a 6-7 stud D1 football signee who can jump out of the gym, who grabs the ball and dunks it. He flushes it clean, doesn't hang on the rim. Doesn't taunt or get in anyone's face, but the home fans want a T and I lean over to my buddy and ask him what he thought. Him and I had different opinions one thought it should've been a T and the other didn't.

So I open it up to the experts.....

Note: No DOG warning either

Thoughts?

When you say "bounces back" was this a tip dunk or did he just grab it off the floor and go dunk it?

Oh yeah then no doubt BANG. If it was a tip dunk I might give him the benefit if the doubt if he had started the dunking motion when the whistle blew.

Agreed,
easy T. What was the argument for not giving a T?

Seat belt?

Would this also be an indirect to the head coach, much like it would be if a dunk was attempted during any other dead ball situation (halftime, warmups, etc.)?

No. This is not an intermission. The player is still a player, not bench personnel.

I have nothing on this play. He was just dunking a basketball with no hang or anything. I can see a delay of game possibly, but I don't see anything other than that??? Is there a rule in NFHS that says no dunking during a dead ball or something, if so I apologize now.

Yes, and the rule has already been cited above.
