AGREED and will add that if you can see the waist - many times it will not move at all, yet the elbows are plainly moving with velocity. That is an easy call and one I will not pass on. Players should not have to play the game with the fear of getting hurt in this way - perhaps breaking a nose or losing an eye because of an action that is illegal and not called often enough.

Actually saw this called in the UCLA / Washington game on Thursday nite. Had not seen that called in college before. Right call though.

This one is so important, in fact, that the NFHS rule book says to call the violation "immediately and unhesitatingly." You don't want to wait for contact to call this one, or a majority of the time you'll be beckoning a coach onto the floor for an injury.
