Saw Eli work again Saturday evening, and I would say he has improved quite a bit since the beginning of the season. More confidence, more consistent floor position and talked through a couple of emotional situations, successfully de-fusing them. At least that was how it looked from my seat. Also, Portland won very comfortably, so of course it all looked great to me.

I do have a question about a call with about 7 minutes left in the game, when Portland's player in-bounded, a Portland player just tipped it, but didn't control it until both the ball and the player were in the backcourt. Was that an over-n-back call Eli? Was it correct? In the true spirit of stupid fans, no one yelled or said anything much, but I don't think it's because they know the rule differences from association to association. Whatever you could say about that call, Eli, would be helpful.

Unless the rule has changed, and it may have, a ball inbounded in the FC cannot be thrown into the BC.

NBA Changed it.

I was not under the impression the the WNBA had the same rule before the change a few years ago. But I do not really know WNBA and NBA differences. I hardly watch either.

Peace

Rainmaker, I e-mailed you about a week ago about the game coming up and was gonna leave you tickets but I got no reply. Anyway, I appreciate the kind words. In the WNBA/NBA the ball cannot be inbounded from the frontcourt into the backcourt as BasketballRef said. Of course, in the college game this play at 7 minutes would of been legal. I won't be in Portland again this year unless a get a playoff opportunity. Later!

Then why not keep your trap shut and let people answer the question who know what they're talking about?

I was out of town, and then when I returned, my husband had been messin' with my computer, and it wasn't functional until about four hours before the game. I appreciated your offer though, and will definitely take you up on it next year -- or for playoffs, which look increasingly likely, both for you and for the Fire!

8)He answered a knock on his door this morning, and found a six-pack of Rut's pre-paid shysters standing there.

We got disconnected before I heard the answer. What's the correct call?

Ok Eli, I'll be nit-picky.
In the NBA, players MAY throw the ball into the backcourt in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter, and overtime.
I know you know that, but just for the sake of correctness.
Of course in the WNBA the ball can NEVER be thrown in the
backcourt.
