Question Was this a real game?

In my first HS JV rec game this morning (co-ed), we had a total of three fouls in the first half and two in the second half. This is only the second time that I remember having that few fouls in a game. The other was a seventh grade boys game.

Anyone have fewer than that? BTW - almost no complaints about "no-calls" and none of the fouls were shooting fouls so there were no free throws in the entire game.

My partner was a young man in his mid-20s and has five years experience officiating. After the game, he said this was by far the fewest he has ever seen.

I think only you, me, MTD Sr. and Dr. Naismith know what that means.

Before Title IX came along, girls basketball was totally different than it is today. There were six players on a team, three on each side of the court. Players could only dribble three times before having to pass. Guards and forwards were not allowed to cross midcourt, only the two "rovers" could. After each basket, there was a jump ball.

While I'm sure there's more to the "Rover Rules" than above, you know BillyMac wouldn't have liked that last part........

Now that's old school.

If I remember my history correctly, 1965 was the first time the NFHS printed only one rule book for both boys and girls, though many states played separate versions for many years after that.

Is that right?
