Before Title IX came along, girls basketball was totally different than it is today. There were six players on a team, three on each side of the court. Players could only dribble three times before having to pass. Guards and forwards were not allowed to cross midcourt, only the two "rovers" could. After each basket, there was a jump ball.
While I'm sure there's more to the "Rover Rules" than above, you know BillyMac wouldn't have liked that last part........
