Crush of fans breaks scorekeeper's computer, leads to scoring error in Cornell-Penn - ESPN
Apparently, the final score had to be corrected (having the computer match the book is no big deal). I was more wondering why the scorekeepers would watch video after the game was over and then change scores based on that! |
Welcome newbie! :D
Who know why nutty scorers do the things they do? |
So, instead of the final score being 83-58, it was 83-59? I wonder who in Vegas arranged that?

Crush of fans breaks scorekeeper's computer, leads to scoring error in Cornell-Penn - ESPN
"Scorekeepers watched video of the finish and decided a 3-pointer by Rob Belcore should have been ruled a 2, and a basket by Dan Monckton at the buzzer should have counted." That's nice, except for the fact that scorers aren't authorized to make such decisions. The value of a shot is clearly the decision of the officials on the court and if the officials gave a signal regarding the counting of the final try, then that decision has to be followed as well. Of course, I can see the scorer making a decision on the final basket if the officials just ran off to get out of the way of the onrushing students. Fortunately, the betting line was not a factor as it was 14, not 24. :D |
