What really shocked me was that the coach actually knew the rule on how many free throws should have been awarded. The odds of that happening makes me think the whole story was made up. Of course, it could be because this has happened many times before to his team and the penalty is just ingrained in him.

Nah, don't give him that much credit. He only found it because I posted a link to it in the current thread about the most bizarre happenings in HS sports during the past year.

They handed out a sheet this year at the rules meetings in Missouri about protests. They are similar to baseball protests. I believe the coach has 10 minutes to produce proof that a rule has been misapplied. And yes, it must be about a rule, not about judgment calls.
