Well, as I posted previously, I worked 10 rec games yesterday and it was the worst day I've had in a long, long time. There were no problems with coaches or players and I had to talk with only one spectator, and that was because she was violating our rec rules by bringing food into the gym. Since I'm on the Board, it's my job to tell her to take her food outside.
Worse yet, in 10 games I had only two technicals! And they were for "Mickey Mouse" stuff. One for a second delay warning and one for reaching over the boundary and hitting the ball while still in the inbounding player's hands. Big freakin' deal.
The most terrible experience was that a bunch of the games were close! I had to keep reminding my various partners (I had three different ones that day - all games are two-person mechanics) that if the game went into OT, it was their fault. Fortunately, they got the message. One game ended up only a three point margin!
I might as well have stayed home. The only good part was that all three gyms are close to my house and I had time during the day between shifts to come home, shower and grab something to eat. Of course, my wife would say, "What the he!! are you doing home? Don't you have games?". Aaahhhh, the joyful bliss of marriage.
