The first time I read this I thought it said Bart Simpson. I was beginning to wonder about you. ;)

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I was watching the first game of our largest tournament in our area last weekend and a newbie varsity official forgot his whistle until he raised his hand for the toss. He stopped things to get his spare in his jacket but it was not there, so down to the locker room. A few minutes later he got a standing O when returning to the court.

Not a newbie, but as a gray haired, embarrassed veteran, been there, done that.

Have You Ever Watched "Monk" ???

They have medication for that now.

Draft yourself a packing list and check it each time before you depart.

Same here. Even had it laminated. I check it after packing my bag for every game.

I used to carry a gym bag (shoes, etc) and a garment bag (shirt, jacket, pants). Forgot the garment bag once. With apologies to Scarlett O'Hara, I'll never go stripe-less again.

There is in most states.

Edit: Wait a minute. We're talking about a cartoon here. Right? So maybe there's not anything wrong with that? Weird? Maybe? Wrong?

And in some of those states where it's illegal, it's OK to be an uncledaddy. Go figure.

Are you kidding? I would love to work a game with you. Maybe we can meet halfway, like in the middle of the Mississippi River. We could do a game on a gambling riverboat. Not only could we sell foul insurance, but we could take bets on the game and control the spread!

Oh wait, somebody already tried that.

You Don't Have To Tell Me, I Already Know, I'm A Bad Boy ...

Of course, this thread would be moot if we all came to the games in uniform, like 90%+ of the officials do in just another ref's association. I bet that less than 10% of those officials ever forget a part of their uniform.

But that's a good topic for another thread. As Emily Litella used to say, "Never mind. I'm sorry. It won't happen again".
