Technical?
During my game this evening, I was going to be the new trail coming off of a OOB violation by Team B. Team A was going to get a throw-in in their backcourt.
One of my partners observed A2 had bobby pins in her hair and charged her with a technical foul and charged it indirectly to the head coach. I didn't agree with the ruling. I questioned the ruling but they insisted so I dropped it and we moved on. From what I've seen the items listed in 3-5 don't have any "penalty" the player just isn't allowed to play until the illegal item is resolved. Am I way off base? Your thoughts? Thanks. |
You were right and your partners were wrong.
Shame on M&M for not listening to you for once. Did it snow down there too? Peace |

No snow down here, Jeff. However, we got a little on Saturday. I heard up around the Effingham area they got a lot of ice yesterday - nothing here. |

Even if it were a technical foul, the kid was a PLAYER, not bench personnel, so no indirect to the coach. That's terrible. |
Personally, I sub the player out of the game. I tell the players in the pregame that 'I am hair envy' (I am bald), it gets a laugh every now and then.
I know other officials just have the player remover the illegal objects during the next clock stoppage. This situation with illegal itema in the hair does not warrant a 'T'. |

Of course if they say yes we are going to have other problems the rest of the game. Curiosity - What level and what level of experience were your partners? |

3-4 Transgressions: You can play, but it costs a T. 3-5 Transgressions: You can't play, and there's no T. |

Well...... at least when they kick a play they REALLY kick it. The indirect to the coach at least puts the seatbelt on him so he doesn't chew your ear off the rest of the game.
Sorry you got stuck with that ........ just terrible.:( |
