Bob,

Do you have an actual purpose for asking who's speaking?

It's required in NCAAW mechanics -- 3.1.4C.

You can also get this from the rule 3-2 ("The Captain" -- singular).

As a practical matter, though -- I'll talk to anyone who is polite, and if the person is not polite it doesn't matter that she's the captain.

(And, Thanks to TerpZebra for the correction on the pre-game activities / timing)

Both NCAA and Fed call for a Speaking Captain to be designated in the pre game, for formal communication.
but as you said as long as the person is polite I do not feel the need to make them go through their Speaking Captain.

Anyone have any insight on the NCAA pregame procedure? Is it the same as high school? Short and sweet with coaches and captains? Conference take place at the 9 minute mark after meeting coaches and checking book?

Thanks!

Do you think that maybe you should have bought a CCA manual or a rule book, or are you not taking this too seriously.

Or maybe he's not a college official, but curious about how the college folks do things?

Except for his post (#3) where he says he has his first college game ...

Does working a college game really make him a college official? ;)

Actually, I hope so. Since I have my second one on Saturday. :D

Do you have a citation for this for Federation rules?
