If the officials knew of the change when it was done or some time briefly thereafter and chose not to take action at that time.

I will stop everything, tell the visitor coach everything, tell the scorekeeper not to do that again, and layer write a note to the AD. Play on.

Tweet. "Hey, Mr. Scorekeeper, don't cheat again. It's not nice, and next time I still won't do anything about it."

Sounds good to me, by rule, and by intent and purpose. I think I'm starting to understand these penalties. I'd like to finish up my study guide this week. Thanks guys. Keep the posts coming.

Note: Just because it sounds good to me, doesn't make it right, by rule. Is it correct? Again, pretend that you're in a room taking a NFHS, or in my case, an IAABO, closed book, timed, written test; and that you're not on the court in a real game, real table crew, experienced, or inexpereinced, first game of the season, or state championship game, etc., with intent and purpose to keep in mind.

This entire Thread sums up my frustration with Administrative Technicals! I don't see how a team gains any advantage by making a change to a players name or number, or if they forget to put the player in the book and add the name post 10 minute mark. Really if they are not trying to be deceptive just make the change and move on. (I know its not by rule in NCAA & Fed, but thank Goodness it is in FIBA).

Now that being said, If a Coach is trying to get away with adding another player that was not prepared to play before game time, then so sorry. That player is not going to be allowed to play once the game has started.

Sure they are, at the price of a technical foul. Or are you talking some obscure FEEBLE thing? :D

I don't know what your asking but there is no playing advantage to making a mistake administratively. Hence the name. NCAA and Fed have chosen to give 2 shots for these "mistakes", FIBA does not. Thats what I am saying.
To me it makes my life easier to not have to explain why the other team is taking 2 shots before play even starts. (Not that I should have to because all coaches know the rules, right!)
As far as the player not playing that is a FIBA rule if they are not on the scoresheet when the tip is taken they don't play. You cant add players after the game has started.
