Yeah, Rut,

Here's the real reason.......

It's true that the vast majority of Americans don't give a rat's patoot about soccer (and, no - it's not football no matter what you say). Why?

1) it wasn't invented by an American or Canadian
2) it's boring
3) all the players whine like Rasheed Wallace whenever someone even thinks about touching them
4) there's not enough violence (on the field, er, excuse me all to heck - on the pitch)
5) no one ever scores
6) there's not enough equipment associated with the game to make endorsements worthwhile
7) they use the word "nil"
8) the shorts they wear look like they come from the "Richard Simmons" collection at Wal-Mart
9 and 10) it's totally "Euro" and that sucks

You knew I'd get that last one in somehow. ;)

As long as you have French refs doing the games. Now where did I hear that before? :D

My suggestion to make soccer more interesting to North Americans is to:

Bring it indoors.
Use fewer players.
Lengthen the shorts.
Have teams score about 90 points a game.

...UHH never mind, we already have that sport.

It's a good thing the world cup is being held in Japan.
If it were held in France, when all those German players and fans started for the border the whole country might surrender again.

Not only Japan.

The World Cup is held in Korea and Japan. Not just Japan. I do not know why, but they are relatively close I guess.

Peace

This from the guy whose quote is in Latin!!

"Comment est votre colour plus préfère?" = What is your favorite color?

"Pourquoi sont nous ecrivons les comedies d'Angleterre en Francais?" = Why are we writing in French about English comedies?

Latin is not metric. It is a "dead" language (except at pharmacies). Unfortunately, there are many "living" metric languages, and you can get a FIFA manual in any one of them. ;)

BTW - my signature quote means, "Ask me if I care".

Au contraire, Monsieur Padgett !

Mark,
I just transplanted some flowers, and my wife told me the "real" names. She made 'em sound like medecine, or poison, or at least something I didn't want to touch.

That's what you get for doing yard work without using power tools. ;)
