Pizanno,

I learned one important thing 20 years ago,
"if you can't explain it, Don't call it"

Good Luck

"Okay coach, since both guys hammered the player at the same time, I'm going to call a foul on both of your players. Now since he was trying for a three-pointer, and missed, we're going to shoot four free throws, two for each foul."

Can you imagine the response?

Pick one foul, preferably the worst offender, and call it on that player. I've never seen a multiple foul called, and I've never had cause to call one myself.

I pray that I will never be put in that situation, but if I do I know I'm not going to call a multiple foul. Thats just like walking in your back yard and stepping into something with your favorite shoes and wishing you had paid attention to what you were doing. I've seen what you would call a multiple foul, but it was alot easier to pick a player out of the two to give the foul to. Good Luck.

Actuall, I had to look it up, since I never call a multiple foul:

Summary of Penalties for All Fouls

6. Multiple Foul:
a. One free throw for each foul:
(1) No try involved.
(2) Successful or unsuccessful two-point try or tap.
(3) Successful three-point try or tap.
b. Two free throws for each foul:
(1) Intentional or flagrant foul.
(2) Unsuccessful three-point try or tap.
Plus ball for throw-in if intentional or flagrant.

In our association, the penalty for calling a multiple foul is not on the players, but on the referee. Whoever calls one has to kiss a poster of Bobby Knight in front of everyone at the next meeting.

Needless to say, since we organized in 1979, no one has called one.

Y'all,

Upon reading Brian's analysis, I realize that a flagrant foul is the only situation where I could imagine calling this. They slugged the opponent at about the same time. Four shots and the ball!

(PS--This won't happen, I hope, in five lifetimes...)

Hey Mark, there may be young kids on here. Don't use the "B.K." word, he is no roll model.
