How about ten seconds to shoot a free throw?

Do we continue to count three seconds during an interrupted dribble?

This isn't going to turn into an IAABO discussion, is it?

An interrupted dribble is not one of the ways to lose team control, so, yes, the count continues.

its different in high school and college because in college you have team control on a throw in. I believe it doesnt matter because you have to have player control in bounds for both??????????
but once the pass is passed in and no one have controlled the ball inbounds and it is be fumbled around no 3 sec should be called but once they control the ball laying on their back they have 3 sec to shoot or get out.

The OP asks for thought process. Without being there and seeing the play, my thought process would possibly be, "This play is a cluster, Team A has actually committed a 3 second violation and if I call it I put an end to this ugliness." To me it sounds to be a good place for calling the violation.

You are mostly correct. You need team control *in the front court* to have a three-second violation.

Is "Player control" required for a 3 second count?

First, that's why I qualified it with "about." I didn't offer this one because I've never called it. I can't honestly say I've ever had a player use 10 seconds.

Second, I'm still not convinced there's any sort of advantage to be gained by taking too long.

I like that.

Clean it up and move on.
