Chuck, maybe one of the reasons you were selected is how you came across to the evaluators. I have noticed that in your posts, you don't try to convince us that you have all the answers to life (or officiating).
I belive that how you deal with people is just as important as the actual job on the floor. Please do not mistake this as saying that judgement and mechanics are not important. But when two officials both possess good mechanics, the determining factor could be your attitude: showing that you want to learn, that you are open to other people's opinions, hustle etc...
