Just asking...

I believe that those files are copyrighted by the NFHS and it would be illegal to share them with other parties.

See the first page of your FED rule and case books for the language. The statement says <i>"Republication of all or any portion of this rules/case book on the Internet is expressly prohibited"</i>.

Mark doesn't need a rule change for that. :)

So then the Fed should come after many members here... :p

We're fine, we'll just say it all came from Reno.

Sure. :)

Or Angie Las Vegas.

I just picked a city in Nevada, since our resident Nevadan seems to have the rules on standby.

Sharing a rule or part of a rule clearly falls under fair use -- I don't think there is any problem with that.

However, please do not email copies of PDF books to your friends and co-officials who are not NFHS members. The NFHS makes most of its money from the sale of books and memberships -- and memberships are only like $10-15 if I remember correctly, so just buy one!

I'd bet that sharing an entire rule (if that is what you really meant....i.e. Rule 4) would be beyond the threshold of fair use. For some rules, that'd be 20% of the entire book.

I'd think that a few sections of a rule would be a reasonable fair use limit...and is in line with what normally gets posted here.

If I were a betting man, I bet the NFHS is fully aware of the nature of the posts here and has no issue with the portion of the rules that are posted here.

LOL - yeah, I forgot that there are only 10 rules! OK... sharing a sub-section, of a section, of a paragraph, is ok :)
