It was fun...didn't do the Champ game...they actually brought in 4 groups of officials...one crew from Southern New York area, one from Boston area, one from Texas, and us from the Northwest...so each crew got to do one game...we did the DePauw vs. St. Lawrence game - DePauw being about 35 miles from Terre Haute, so we had a huge crowd!! The Champ game was interesting...Wisconsin Stevens Point was ahead the entire game...in second half they had a lead of 16 with 12 min to go, and St. Lawrence whittled away at it...St. L scored with 1.9 seconds to make it a two point game, and then called their last time-out...Stevens Point had ball under St. L's basket, and threw this really stupid pass out to about half-court - it was intercepted by a player on the run who took one dribble and launched a shot that bounced around on the rim and fell out after the horn had gone off...pretty lucky to escape with that win! Anyway -I would not want to live in that part of Indiana, but it was fun to visit and meet some new refs from other parts of the country...

Just a bit of trivia for those who think this level is pretty low. Wisconsin Stevens Point had a player who had a very long and productive NBA career - Terry Porter.
Terry tells the story about his college coach seeing a picture of Terry guarding Michael Jordan on the front of the Trailblazer media guide. Terry sent him the guide and asked him what he thought of Terry being featured on the cover. His coach called back and told him that was not exhibiting proper defensive position in the picture and that he should work on that.

I was under the impression that this was a college tournament of some sort. Obviously, that's not right if Terry Porter was playing. What league were these teams from? (Ir)Regardless ( )of the level, congrats to rocky on the assignment.
