My JUCO Supervisor, Blaine Sylvester passed away on Monday.
I'm posting this in case any out there either knew or worked with him.
He refereed D1 basketball for 25 years. WAC and I'm not sure what other conferences.
He gave me my first shot at "College" ball and I'm greatful for that.
A good man. Only 66 years old. Far too young to be gone.
Thanks

Sadly, we knew this was coming, but it is still very sad to lose a very nice man and at an age that is too young. Blaine took a chance on me and hired me to work his league before I worked HS varsity ball. I will always remember him for his foresight and kindness.

If you never had a chance to know Blaine, you missed out. I loved his stories about refereeing. He was "big time" in his day. He worked in most of the major venues in the US. Our local refereeing community will miss him.

Funeral services are set for Saturday, March 16 at 11am at the Burch Creek 7th Ward Chapel, 5640 South 850 East, Ogden, UT.

Sorry to hear about this. I always liked Blaine's insights.

My first camp I ever attended was one he and Dick Ball did.

My condolences..
