Last night was Jason Veritek's turn to hit a 9th-inning HR for the go-ahead run. It was a big night for Jud Lowrie, too. In his first big league game, he had 3 RBIs, including his first hit in the bigs -- a grounder that just made it through the infield to plate 2 runs, giving the Sox a lead. He was the Red Sox' minor league offensive player of the year last season. Hard to see how he'll stick on the roster this year, but I'm happy for him.
My Tampa Bay hat didn't do any good, as the Yanks won again in the Trop. :( Sox/Yanks again this weekend? Wang looked pretty good last time. . . DJ's M's knocked the Royals juggernaut out of first place in the Central, and Mick's Tiggers have a winning streak going. |

I also realize that Rickey established Dodgertown so that the black players could live with the team, instead of being forced to stay in "colored" hotels. He clearly did a lot to advance the cause of minorities in baseball, but the focus -- for April 15, anyway -- should be fixed on Jackie Robinson, IMHO. |
