Calling a Timeout.....

A brother official asked me the following question: While administering the free throws for a "T", team B asked for a time out between the free throws to "ice" A's shooter. Seems ok to me, but a senior official thought there was something in the rules not allowing it. Any feedback?

As long as the player does not have the ball, give them the time out.

This is fine as long as there is time on the clock. If you were in an end of game situation they are not allowed successive timeouts.
