location, foul on non-shooter, basket made

Shot attempt by A1, b2 fouls say by running through a screen or a pushing foul and the basket is good. So does team A keep the ball? Where would the location be, spot of foul?
Is it the same for high school and college?
Does it matter if the shot is released

Is this basket interference or goaltending or nothing? A1 throws a lob to a2 but it hits the rim and bounces around on the rim. I assume a2 has to let it clear first even though it was a pass but I wanted to check.

If B fouls, A keeps the ball at the spot of the foul for all of the above. If the shooting motion has started, the basket counts, whether the shot was released or not.

A2 must not touch the ball while in the cylinder or it would be basket interference.

Weird, But, BI ...

It does not have to be a legal try for basket intreference to occur, i.e., ball bounces off floor, throwin, wrong basket, ball bounces off someones head, etc.

Whether the shot was released or not?

JAR is right.
On a defensive foul off ball, the shooting motion need only have begun prior to the foul for the shot to count.
On an offensive foul off ball, the shot must be released prior to the foul in order to count.

If the shooter has begun the habitual motion of shooting, the basket counts. (assuming the try is successful)

But how can the basket count on a defensive foul off-ball, if the shot was not released?

Did you go to M.I.T. or something?

Here's some basic common sense logic I learned in high school. MIT education not required.

If the shot was never released, it could never have gone in, so there wouldn't be a discussion on whether it should count or not. The unstated "prior to the foul" should be inferred following "whether the shot was released." It's the only way the post makes sense.

I didn't go to MIT either, and I don't disagree with your logic, but look at the statement again:

Can you come up with any scenario where a basket would count if the shot was not released?

Even when the score isn't 54-23?

Give me 45 minutes to drink some Diet Pepsi, and I'll get back to you in a half an hour.

Which is what I was getting at.

to clarify.....

If B fouls, A keeps the ball at the spot of the foul for all of the above. If the shooting motion has started prior to the foul, the basket counts, whether the shot was released prior to the foul or not.

Better?

Better?
What if A is in the bonus or double bonus? Then what?

If Team A is in the Bonus, then the fouled player would shoot free throws. Play will continue from the free throws. This will happen if A1 makes or misses the attempted shot.
