Got it.

Somehow, I'm thinking no matter which way I go with this, Lark's thread goes in the crapper. (If it isn't there already.)

Although, he did start it...

I dont think I've seen such a good screen in a long long while....

Good job to the crew on taking the time to get it right.

Yep, another good thread.....hijacked!
However, that being said, and getting back on target.

Excellent screen - statuesque!! Good ejection! Exceptional pants hiking technique!! :D

I am not so sure about that. I think the time they waited was sufficient. Wait until the scoring opportunity is over and that is what basically happens.

Larks answered this question rather well. There is a change in the college Men's philosophy when the ball is coming up the court. The rotation might have been a little early, but if there is a lot of trapping near the half court line a rotation early is acceptable.

Yes they would. A player would only go to the locker room if they became a problem after their ejection. Then they need to be accompanied by an adult.

Peace

Great screen, and good call on the flagrant. It looked like if the player who committed the flagrant hadn't tripped over the cameramen, the player that took the elbow to the back of the head was ready to go after him. May have saved a whole lot of crap by him tripping like that.

Almost everything was done correctly but correct me if I'm wrong; I heard the PA announcer state that it was a flagrant foul issued. When they resumed play, the officials inbounded the ball at half court.

Isn't the ball supposed to be inbounded at the baseline at the designated spot nearest to where the foul occurred?

The foul was a flagrant technical. Because it was a dead ball technical involving contact, you put the ball at the division line not the spot of the foul. This was not a live ball flagrant foul. The officials got it right.

This is why you do not listen to the PA announcers or the TV commentators because they likely do not know. All they know is there is a flagrant foul and they do not know the technical term. And I am sure the officials told the table this was a flagrant action and that is why the announcement was what it was.

Peace

NFHS:
1. The official "may" suspend play after the try. 5-8-2 Note.
2. I concur, but it appears that the Lead did not notice the Trail decide to go back and stay with the down player in the bc. At 7 seconds of the video clip, Welmer can be seen entering the fc and then turning and heading back into the bc. If you look at the Lead's head, he isn't looking back at Welmer and probably didn't know that he had turned around.
3. Under normal circumstances the offender remains on the bench, but the official does have the authority in unusual circumstances to require that the individual leave the vicinity of the court with adult supervision. That is explained in case book play 10.5.

NCAA:
1. The NCAA book uses the term "scoring play" and says when it is completed. I agreed with the officials allowing the game action to continue in this case. The player in the bc was in no immediate danger.
2. Same as what I wrote under NFHS.
3. The NCAA penalty for a flagrant foul is not only disqualification, but also ejection and that means the person must go to the lockerroom.

Great clip. Officials handled it perfectly, and in all seriousness, the announcers did a good job as well. "It's a flagrant personal if it was a live ball. It's a flagrant technical if it was a dead ball".
