I pick a spot in the air about 4 feet higher than the taller of the two jumpers, then concentrate on using one hand to "shot put" the ball to that spot. It works pretty well.

This thread reminds me about my first college game.

The two jumpers were about 6'9" each, I'm thinking to myself, "these guys can probably get up there, so toss it high"

I think I put the ball within about 6" of the roof!

Needless to say....I called that toss back and did it over.

Guess no one stole THAT toss!

I do drop my whistle before the toss. But they did come down on my head.:o

Earlier this week, on an out of bounds call on the baseline, with me as the lead, not realizing how close I was to the wall, I blew the whistle, made the stop clock signal, called out the color, and indicated the direction, jamming my fingers into the wall. My fingers hurt for the rest of the game, and when I got out of bed the next morning.
