We don't always visibly count. The correct FIBA mechanics for the 8 seconds in the backcourt is to count mentally the first three and to visibly count only the last five. A mental count by the official is as good as a visible count.

What i do have is this: From Fiba refs manual 7.1-7:

7. For observing closely guarded player, throw-in and free-throw execution, and eight seconds the official responsible for the play shall use the visible count (Official’s signal no. 14).

Only the last 5, for the eight seconds. At least that's what the ask us here.
