I feel like such a noob official

just called Honig's and ordered shirts, pants, whistles, wet garmet bag, pregame board, all that good stuff.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to do and finally got around to it and with some extra Christmas money I just felt the need to splurge a bit.

Made me feel like I was in my first year again!

Extra Christmas money just means you forgot to pay a bill.

I'd rather do business with them, knowing their track record and doing business with them for many years than go to some "newer" place with better deals, etc.

<3 Honig's (NOT Hongi's as stated in someone else's thread

Let me second that one..........hands down, the best shirt on the market. I believe they are now 10.00 bucks. They do run a tad large if anyone buys one. Make sure you order the right shirt. Quite a few guys around here have the college wide stripe which thet bought in error.

My wife bought me a new shirt for Christmas...don't know where she got it but it feels like it's made of the same material as Under Armor gear (without the Ed Hockulee fit :D ) and it's comfy as hell! Very lightweight and does not require an undershirt.

I'm familiar with the shirt, bought one from them.

2-1-1
The official's uniform shall be a black-and-white striped shirt, black pants, shoes and socks.

How is it not a black-and-white striped shirt?

Oh well, not sure I understand the thinking. It's a good looking shirt. As long as all three are wearing the long shirt, let'em wear it.

When in Rome :) ......... What if I wanted 4 inch wide stripes? You gotta have a little consistency. Side panel as I mentioned is frowned upon here, but the point is the material is great. Did you find they ran big?

eyezen Wed Jan 02, 2008 10:40pm

The shirt of which you speak

is the Honigs B12 ultra tech.

Very very nice shirt IMO.

Well I do not think the NF gives a rat's behind if you wear these shirts or not. For one they still fit the description of the rulebook. They are just a different style. And frankly I do not see what the NF would do about it in the first place. There are NF recognized states that wear grey shirts for their post season games. I think this is just like the NF position on mechanics. The states have say over what their official should or should not look like. Also the side panel is frowned upon by one of the basketball administrators and in the effort of consistency if they do not agree, they do not allow them to be worn period.

And for the record, you can buy the same shirt without the panel and you cannot tell the difference.

Peace

It could also be this shirt. I own one and it is remarkable. I did not pay for it, which makes it better. http://www.ump-attire.com/Merchant2/...roduct_Count=0

Does anyone know what The Official's Choice's return policy is? I'm thinking about getting a shirt to try it out, but they don't offer "tall" shirts. My experience in purchasing shirts tells me that if I don't buy a "tall" shirt, my shirt will ALWAYS untuck during the course of the game! :(

lpbreeze Thu Jan 03, 2008 04:02am

i might get one too. how long do they take to ship? honigs was very good about shipping but I would rather get a cheaper shirt.

DonInKansas Thu Jan 03, 2008 05:26am

Out of stock in Large. Booooooo.........:p

Bigdog............

IMHO they are pretty long to begin with.

They want $7.95 to ship a shirt that costs $10.95?? Stuff it in an envelope and put a stamp on it! Still cheaper than everywhere else, but that does make it a heck of a lot less of a deal....need to order two or three minimum to really take advantage...

I was going to order a shirt last night, but then saw the $7.95 shipping fee and cancelled my order. If the shipping rate was around $4.00 I would have placed the order. Like you said, a lot less of a deal.

Where are you going to find a great shirt for 18.95 and no tax????

Like I said I agree that it is still cheaper than the other places, but I love the hook, "HEY LOOK AT US OUR SHIRTS ARE ONLY $10.95!!" then in fine print, oh yeah we are jacking you up on S&H....that said I will still order from there, but probably in quantities of no less than 3...

All I ever look at is the TOTAL price. Retail has numerous marketing ploys to get your attention.....50% off (first one only)....75% off (to the first 10 customers)....Free (when purchased with XYZ/activation plan).

In fact a common eBay tactic is to price stuff really low and have the shipping/handling high. This guarentees the seller a minimun net revenue without having to use a reserve auction or list it at a high starting price (which discourages activity) and also reduces the eBay listing fees since they're not based on shipping/handling but only on the sales price.

For the shirts, it may be that sales tax is charged only on goods in some states but not on services (shipping). As a result, the more that is shifted to shipping, the more is saves the buyer.

7.95 shipping and handling is par for the course. Everyone does it.

Yeah, I know. When in Rome. But 4" stripes would be extreme. There's nothing extreme about this shirt.

Big? Not really. Quite comfortable.

I have both. The OC shirt is the better shirt.

You won't have any trouble with length. I'm 6'4", and so are both of my regular partners. The shirt has plenty of length.

I beat these guys up three years ago because they used to charge $10 a shirt to ship. They evidently got the message.

I've ordered 12 shirts since the season started. I'll take orders from others and order 5 or 6 at a time. Cuts down on the shipping.

Both times I ordered, they were shipped DHL 2-Day shipping. My bigger problem was with DHL and December issues. They were swamped but that should be an issue now.

Honigs MINIMUM S&H IS $6.95, I don't care what you buy. I'm only 60 miles from their closest outlet but it's still $6.95 via UPS. Don't get me wrong, I love Honig's. But $7.95 for DHL is not out of line.

And it's a better shirt! :)
