Double Whistle
Last night during the Georgetown vs Alabama game I thought almost every whistle on every call by the refs was double - tweet, tweet.
Is this NCAA rules? Anyone else use this technique? Only time I can think I blow the whistle more than once (routinely) is on a tussle during a held ball to ensure everyone hears me and stops wrestling and before it gets too nasty. Thoughts? |
In some areas it seems you get single blasts on fouls and the tweet-tweets on violations.
I try to have a single blast on everything...I'll hold it for timeouts, or if I need to close on a long-range call...unless I have something with nasty potential and I'll usually close with multiple blasts. |
Single blast for most everything. Double tweet for subs in. That's me.

I was at a NC2AW Camp this pass summer and I was told to stop with the tweet, tweet and use just one blast of the whistle.
