Inappropiate Move by Ref?

Did anyone catcht that game. St. Bonaventure vs. UMass. It was reported in the newspaper the next day that the official flipped off the audience.

Also at the end of the game, the buzzer rang, and the coach of St. Bonaventure wanted to argue with the official about not calling a foul but all the officals had ran off, right at the last second.

Probably because that's standard operating procedure - this is the A-10 - very rarely is there a TV monitor on which to check a last second shot.

As for the first incident you described, I haven't heard anything about it.

No, I haven't heard this and would be shocked if it were true. D1 officials work very hard to get to that point. I can't imagine one throwing it all away because some fans were yelling at him.

Did you expect them to hang around, listen to the coach and then call the foul?

When the game is over, we leave the floor. It doesn't matter whether it's a high school game or the NBA Finals.

the nba refs actually stand at mid court untill the teams have cleared the table area.

He wasn't flipping anyone off. He was indicating the total number of calls the entire crowd got correct all game, and was so startled that one person even got one right, he felt he had to honor that person by indicating that.

Either the guy got that one right by accident, or else he is a ref.
