Ya know that crossed my mind.... ;)

Splute,

Did you talk at all to the player that was camping? I will often say, 34, get out. You can talk to the players and try to prevent things from happening. If you were letting it go all night and then called it--I would say pass. However, if you had been looking for it all night and then it happened in the last minute, you were right to call it. Keep up the hard work.

I have to admit I did not warn about the paint all night, but I did look for it; these are 9th graders. As usual the fans were calling it for me, but it just wasnt there. I applied the same look to both ends of the floor. I did warn for forearm & hand checks in the post in first quarter and called it thereafter. I especially dislike the leg up the butt move and called that immediately and quickly explained what I called to the player.

Just for future reference...how do you signal the "leg up the butt move"?

ha, that is funny and yes I got a comment from the stands while explaining that action to the player (I lifted my leg in a similar motion as he had used it).... hum guess that was a sight, better rethink that one:p . I reported it as a push, probably more of a hold because it really restricts the player's movement.

I probably would have reported it as a push also, but it reminds me of one of those "NFL Films Presents" shows I watched about some blunders of the game. The official was reporting the penalty and instead of saying "Personal Foul number 76 fifteen yards" he said, and I'll try to quote as best I can, "Personal foul number 76...for giving him the business at the bottom of the pile...fifteen yards." It's not an exact quote but he did add the "giving him the business" part of it.

I'll try to find the clip somewhere.

I will actually give two hands pushing while lifting up my leg (I know, an unapproved signal) so the player and coach know why I called what I did.

So in this case it would be for "Ramming him in the butt"...
