I was thinking about the different between a flagrant foul and intentional foul...?

I'm from Sweden, so here we only got the FIBA rules, Unsportsmanlike and Disq fouls

A flagrant foul is a disqualifying foul. One flagrant and you're gone. In addition, the penalty carries 2 shots (by anyone) to the non-offending team, who also gets the subsequent throw-in at the division line opposite the table.

An intentional foul is not a DQ, but does carry 2 shots to the player that was fouled. The shooter's team also get the throw-in closest to where the spot is.

I believe that a flagant is like the FIBA DQ foul, and the intentional is something like a unsportsmanlike foul.

There are small differences: a DQ foul can be personal (i.e., contact) or technical (i.e., non-contact); in the first case the offended player must shoot the free throws, in the second any player can shoot them. After that there is a throw in at the division line.

The penalty for an unsportsmanlike foul is two FT and ball at the division line; it can only be contact, of course. FIBA decided to drop the word "intentional" to clarify that judgment of those contacts must be based only on what happens, not on the intentions of the fouler.

It must be noted also that the FIBA penalty is one free throw if the fouled player scores (the usual rules about continuous motion apply). Not two as in FED.

NFHS (US High School) rules:
Flagrant foul is disqualifying. It can be either technical or personal. If it's technical, the freethrows can be shot by anyone and the ball will be given to the free throw shooting team at the division line.
If it's a flagrant personal, the free throws must be shot by the player who got fouled, and that team will also take the ball out at the spot nearest the foul.

Intentionals may able be technical or personal. They virtually always involve contact, and whether the ball is dead or not is what determines whether it is a personal or technical foul. they are not disqualifying, and only involve free throws and the ball for the offended team. Who shoots the shots and where the ball is inbounded are decided by whether it's personal or technical.

Good catch! My game management techniques prevent flagrant personal fouls; so I don't recall ever issuing one. :p
