Overtime ? ...Guilty.

Okay folks.... :(
Since no one has admitted it yet, I herein confess that I was the Ref when an 8th grade kid made a spin move at the top and banked one in for "3", forcing overtime. 3 minutes later her team lost by one. [sigh!]

This is not good game management !

I dont know why officials think overtime is so taboo......I my mind if it happens, so be it. I have no problem with overtime at all. Just my 2 cents.:D

A couple of seasons ago, one of the varsity officials took ill. Since it was a crew of two, they asked if I could fill in for the 2nd half. The visitors trailed much of the game and made a baseline 15 footer at the buzzer to send the game into OT. So, I got an extra 4 minutes in that night.

Did she call the bank?

Nope, but I gave her some extra credit.
In the 3rd quarter she was chasing an opponent down the floor, ran into a screen that was set "all day long" and dropped like a rag doll thrown against the wall.
The only call was, "Time!"

Allowing overtimes violates the second rule of officiating. And - we all know what the first rule of officiating is. BTW - the third rule is "Coaches have a shorter leash than a puppy". :D

What do you mean by “Allowing” overtime? How can a ref determine overtime or not? Besides, who cares? I look at overtime as kind of a bonus to ref an extra 4 minutes. I enjoy a tight, well fought battle.

Vinski and IREFU2,
It's very nice that you take officiating so seriously and professionally.
Keep up the good work !

It's pretty easy, actually.

That said....

It's a running joke.

During pre-game, I always tell my partner, "If this game goes into overtime, it's your fault!"
