Question Socks Part of the Uniform?

I couldn't find anything one way or another in the NFHS rule book. Are socks considered part of the uniform? We had girls wanting to wear one white and one blue one yesterday and coach wouldn't let them and asked me to verify it was a rule. (And I couldn't remember if NFHS had this as a rule or perhaps repealed it )

Enforcing the rules is splendid, but don't go looking for

Legal.

Tights are not legal.

No, the socks and shoes are NOT considered part of the uniform. The girls can wear whatever they wish for those as long as they are not dangerous or confusing.

3.6 Sit B gives the general idea.

Thanks for the heLP. I'll tell coach, but knowing him, He'll just tell the girl's it's his own team rule.

If more coaches took responsibility, and made team rules, regarding proper uniforms, the rest of us could spend a lot less time playing fashion cop.

Nothing wrong with that.

if middle school/high school/AAU/CYO coaches spent time making rules, enforcing rules, teaching fundamentals, demanding sportsmanship, etc... the things you officials suggest they should be doing... they wouldnt have any time to do what they are really there to do...

put in 473 plays and yell at the refs!!!

Back in the early days of my career, I was speaking to my partner during warm-ups. One of the players was wearing knee-high, Cat-In-The-Hat striped socks. I asked my partner if there was any call on that, and his response was, "Only if you want to whack him for having bad taste!!"

My advice is just to forget about checking their socks. Who cares? BTW - do not ever, and I mean never, check girl's teams for matching bras.

Are you kidding? There's not enough liability insurance in the universe to cover something like this.

Not only that - it would be wrong. I almost said "flat out wrong" but I thought some of you might think I was making a pun.

Plus, I think "flat out" is an oxymoron.
