Players lined up for a free throw. As I bounce the ball to the shooter two players swap spots in the lane. Shooter then catches ball. Lane Violation or not?

No violation. The ball has not become available to the shooter. Kindly go in and reset the whole situation. I've had this, as well as many others, I'm sure, this happen before. Good question.

Assuming they switched to legal positions, why would you stop and reset?

No real need to other than to avoid confusion. I've done
this but not always.

It prevents anyone from thinking that we're going to have a lane violation. Simply step in and re-administer the FT. As Dan said, it helps avoid confusion.
